The Junior Youth Group of St. Peter Ev. Lutheran Church & School

Certainly we note and read in God’s Holy Word, that children are very precious in the sight of God. The Holy Gospel of St. Matthew gives evidence of this as we read … “as people we are encouraged to bring their children to Him”, {Jesus}. The Junior Youth Group is in place to show and demonstrate this to our children and youth, and to assist each child to grow in their faith and knowledge of ‘The Lord Jesus Christ.’

Junior Youth Group Eligibility

Any child who is in the fifth through the eighth grade is eligible to attend the Junior Youth Group, and who are members of the church and/or our day school as well. Parents/Guardians are welcome to stay and assist with activities as they are able.

Junior Youth Materials

• A ‘Guide to Daily Meditation & Prayer’ is used to reinforce the weekly Catechesis material which is being taught.

• A devotion based on the themes and Sundays of the Church year will be shared.

• ‘God’s Holy Word’ will be at the center of our study.

• Dr. Martin Luther’s Small Catechism, along with writings from Dr. Luther.

Events

• Gatherings are held once a month (currently the third Friday of the month).

• Plan for the gatherings/meetings:

> Opening and sign in is from 6:00-6:15 pm.

> Activities from 6:15-8:45 pm.

> Closing from 8:45-9:00 pm. {Note: Parents are invited to join the youth in the closing.}

> Dismissal/Parent pick up at 9:00 pm

We plan youth meetings, at this time to review/plan for ongoing activities, discuss concerns, and certainly ask feedback from parents and youth, allowing an open forum for suggestions for future meetings and activities.
